Wright Public Entity serves as a management company providing claims administration, risk management & loss control, underwriting & marketing, and client services in New York for the NY Schools Insurance Reciprocal (NYSIR: ‘A-’ rated by Best), NY Municipal Insurance Reciprocal (NYMIR: ‘A-’ rated by Best) and Statewide Schools Health Plan. We also act as a TPA for Workers Compensation for various self-insured schools & municipalities in New York.

This position will be responsible primarily for the adjustment of first- and third-party property damage claims arising from general liability and auto liability coverages.

Responsibilities:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Coverage assessment and verification
  • Investigate, evaluate, and bring to a disposition all non-litigated claims
  • Assure the proper reserving of all losses
  • Participate in recognized safety/marketing programs
  • Assign and manage the activities of independent adjusters and other vendors
  • Work effectively with clients, brokers, attorneys and other departments
  • Identify subrogation potential
  • Manage the subrogation process
  • Participate in mediation and arbitration
  • Preparing comprehensive claim correspondence
  • Attend training classes and/or secure professional designations
  • Handle NY PIP and Medical payments claims
  • Prepare substantive Claim Reports.
  • Make recommendations as to reserves and disposition of claims

Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or life experience
  • Experience in handling commercial automobile claims
  • Active New York State General Adjuster’s license (Series 17-70)
  • Professional telephone demeanor
  • Proficient use of a PC

Physical Requirements Necessary on a Regular Basis:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and body range motion for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone
  • Speech and hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication
  • Access to Wi-Fi
