Job Duties:
“Fully remote”
We are seeking a Medicaid Managed Care Advocate to support the independence and well-being of older Virginians, People with disabilities, and their families by collaborating with public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower the individuals we serve to maximize their employment, independence, and full inclusion into society.
Beneficiary Assistance/Support providing information, problem-solving assistance and advocacy as needed to enrollees in Cardinal Care, Virginia’s Medicaid Managed Care to help them obtain, understand and exercise their rights under Cardinal Care and resolve problems with their care and services under the delivery model. Maintaining accurate data on all program activities. OSLTCO Program Support, supporting the overall efforts of the OSLTCO to identify, track, and seek systemic solutions to issues and trends in long-term services and supports (LTSS that may negatively affect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of long-term care recipients.
The primary geographic focus for this position is the Central Va. and Northern Va. area.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience:
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and managed care as well as a good understanding of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the quality of long-term care, including community-based services and supports.
- Experience in advocacy on behalf of populations facing challenges related to aging and/or disability.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team, strong communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both professional and non-professional, with varied educational and cultural backgrounds and/or physical and mental disabilities.
- Knowledge of health and human services.
- Experience in advocacy on behalf of aging and disabled populations.
- Investigation, problem solving, and documentation skills are essential.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft products and other computer software.
Skills/Abilities:
• Investigation, problem solving, and documentation skills are essential.
• Training skills in negotiating and mediating.
Additional Considerations:
• Ability to speak Spanish, Farsi, or other language (in addition to English).
