Yahoo Finance is seeking a skilled writer to help grow our coverage of credit cards, rewards programs, and related topics. To succeed, you’ll need to be enthusiastic about explaining the complexities of credit cards to readers looking to choose the cards that best suit their needs, whether that’s a shopper searching for the best cash-back offer or a traveler who wants a sign-on bonus to make a vacation affordable. We’re looking for a writer with high standards who values the pursuit of excellence and is always willing to learn.
If you’re excited by the idea of using your writing skills and knowledge of credit cards, and personal finance more generally, to help people meet their financial challenges with confidence while growing a team inside a thriving and growing enterprise, you’ll fit right in on our Personal Finance Content team.
Responsibilities:
- Research, report, and write articles on credit cards, rewards programs, credit scores, and related topics
- Create rubrics and scoring methodologies to evaluate and rank credit cards
- Pivot quickly to cover credit card news and launches
- Collaborate with SEO, product, and business teams to execute content strategy
- Collaborate with fellow writers, and support editors
- Monitor article performance and update as needed in collaboration with SEO team
- Test, learn, and iterate on article formats and other optimizations
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years as a writer in personal finance content marketing or journalism
- At least 3 years of experience exclusively covering credit cards, rewards programs, credit scores, and related topics
- A demonstrated track record of published work that shows skill at making complex information and concepts digestible for all readers
- Demonstrated writing skill including excellent grammar and style, along with an ability to learn and follow style guides
- Ability to exhaustively research topics matched with a rigorous approach to sourcing, including experience interviewing subject matter experts
- A willingness to work collaboratively with editors and other writers
- A strong understanding of SEO
- An understanding of how content, product, and commerce work together in an affiliate marketing environment
- Familiarity with the personal finance challenges faced by Americans
- Empathy for people facing those challenges

The compensation for this position ranges from $72,750.00 – $151,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
