Responsibilities

As a Planning & Analysis (P&A) Analyst within Financial Operations, you’ll be uniquely positioned with exciting opportunity to directly influence and enable enterprise leadership decision making through providing relevant, actionable, future-focused financial analysis. You’ll be a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to Executive leadership, collaborating broadly with others across State Farm to enable execution of key enterprise priorities. You will enable the mission of State Farm, informing how we can help more customers in more ways.


As a P&A Analyst, your key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

Strategic enterprise planning, enterprise budgeting, target setting, and monitoring/reporting of company goals.
Proactive identification of market opportunities and trends to support the Agency sales function in maximizing opportunity to reach new customers.
Providing knowledge, insight, and enterprise perspective via financial analysis that facilitates operational and strategic decision making.


Collaborate across P&A, Financial Operations, and the Enterprise to develop ad hoc and routine analysis to enable informed decision-making, including analysis of results, proactive identification of trends, and impact analysis on changes effecting results trends.
Serve as a strategic thought partner for leadership and business areas and offer insights on Enterprise financial and growth results and trends.
Prepare accurate and relevant written financial analysis in a timely manner, communicating complex subject matter to the intended audience in a simplified manner that meaningfully informs decisions.
Represent P&A on projects and initiatives across the Enterprise.

Candidates applying for this position should meet the following qualifications:

Degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics/Mathematics/Statistics or a related field is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work with all levels of leadership
Demonstrated initiative and ability to dig deep into trends, learn business tools, and actively seek means to improve processes and controls
Broad business and financial acumen
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including utilization of advanced formulas and report automation techniques
Experience with business intelligence data systems, financial/statistical resources, and analytical software is a plus.
